This thread is the post-Yamator wall. Players who clear Yamator tend to hit a routing dead end before they figure out the next sanctuary. The pinned answer usually walks through the Sanctuary entry requirements so you don’t have to re-learn it the hard way.
The actual list, community-aggregated
RockGod listed: rolling dash, ground/air dash, Irbes claws, ice wall claws, dark vision, Yamator’s wings. That’s the cutoff. After Yamator, the wiki presents a few route options and lets you choose. The Steam replies converged on one route — most players, when they actually finish the game, take this one:
- Strigine Quarry — the air-dash unlock makes this manageable. It’s where most players land first because it’s the easiest backtrack with the new mobility.
- Higasha Tundra — depends on ice-wall claws. Skip if you don’t have them; come back later.
- Kannir Belt — most players come here for the Cabitz. The blink gauntlet is rough, see the sentiment page. Take breaks.
- Stone Sanctuary — short, no major new ability, soft-cap for the loadout you built. Good reset point.
- Black Mire → Kurtz — that’s the one. Kurtz tactics here. Approach from the south past Moss Cave.
- Elord Castle — if you’re route-flags on for Ending A, Elord is on the path. If you’re B-flagged, skip Elord and head to Shrine of Ancestors.
- Sealed Spire — the route’s last big ability.
- Origin Lab + ending — final route.
That’s eight regions. The wiki’s region-order page lists them in this same order, but the wiki leans on the “intended difficulty curve.” The Steam-thread reply consensus leans on the real backtrack cost of each region, including the puzzle heaviness and the resource drain.
What the wiki doesn’t tell you (and the thread does)
A few real observations that came up in the visible replies:
- You don’t need every Cabitz. Some routes benefit from skipping one Cabitz and getting the Erased Shards bonus instead. RockGod actually went down this path.
- The ice wall claws are misleadingly described. Half the players in the thread said they thought ice wall was optional because the region guide for Higasha Tundra doesn’t shout about it. It’s not optional for the backtrack route. Use it.
- Dark vision is fine to leave alone. Multiple replies said: “I only use it for two puzzles.” Pure QoL upgrade. Don’t grind for it.
- Yamator’s wings are the actual power spike. Everything before was set dressing, multiple players said. After Yamator, the opens up.
The wiki doesn’t say half of this in plain language. The Steam thread does.
Why this page exists
The wiki is full of best-path guides. This is the second-pass guide — what you do when you got the standard advice and you still don’t know what to do. It’s not the truth; it’s the route most players take and it’s worth knowing about because some of the wiki’s “intended path” diverges from the “cost-minimised path” in subtle ways.
